2019 group health insurance grew in excess of 20 percent year over year

  • The membership for Stand-Alone Dental Plans doubled year over year

Access Health CT (AHCT) Small Business reports a 2019 growth rate in excess of 20 percent. Broker engagements within the small group community contributed to driving these results (89 percent of plans selected were chosen with the help of a broker). Of the 89 percent, 10 percent were completed with new broker relationships. In addition, AHCT has seen their Stand-Alone Dental Plan membership nearly double compared to last year.

"This has been a pivotal year for Access Health CT Small Business,” said Small Business and Product Development Director, John Carbone, “and we will carry this momentum with us as we grow. We will continue to optimize our business plan, increase our outreach and presence within the communities we serve, and communicate opportunities that make coverage possible for Connecticut’s workforce.”

This success comes the same year Access Health CT Small Business made several strategic shifts within the business unit, including the appointment of Small Business and Product Development Director, John Carbone, the development of a new business plan to drive growth, a targeted marketing and communications effort, and the addition of new support staff to assist brokers and small business owners in communities around the state.

It is important for small business owners and brokers to be aware of the benefits offered by Access Health CT Small Business, which include having among the lowest cost group health plans in the marketplace, flexibility to start coverage any month, a variety of plan options with different insurance carriers, a choice of health and dental plans, and prescription drug coverage included in all plans.

“At Access Health CT, our overarching mission is to reduce the rate of the uninsured,” said James Michel, Chief Executive Officer of Access Health CT. “It guides everything we do. John and his team are helping us to achieve our mission, one small business at a time and often one employee at a time.”
