Annual Lisbon Fall Festival is Sept 22-23

Come on out and enjoy the Annual Lisbon Fall Festival on September 22nd, 4:30 – 7:00 PM, and September 23rd, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  Admission is FREE.  This event is held at the Lisbon Community Center, near the Lisbon Meadows Park.

This year the festival’s main events will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 22nd – 23rd.    It has been growing in size and this year promises to be one of the best yet.  The Lisbon Fall Festival Committee has a mission to focus on bringing the community together while raising funds to heat the Community Center.

On Friday, September 22nd, grab dinner and enjoy their famous chowder and fritters being served from 4:30 – 7:00 PM.

Saturday’s events start at 10:00 AM with a 3.5-mile road race, starting at the Lisbon Town Hall and finishing in front of the Lisbon Community Center.  Road Race applications are available at www.lisbonfallfestival.org.  The Lisbon P.T.O. Color Run, a family fun event, starts at 12:00 PM and runs through Lisbon Meadows Park.  This event is open to Pre-K – 8th grade children and parents who wish to accompany their kids.  For more information and applications, visit http://www.lcs.myfunrun.com/..

Other events for the day include dance demonstrations, “Touch a Truck”, and a Paint Party with the Norwich Art House.

The Lisbon Recreation Committee will once again host many kid and family friendly activities, including Bumper Ball!  This was a huge hit at last year’s festival.  What is Bumper Ball? Glad you asked!  It’s a bunch of people running around wearing a big plastic inflatable ball and playing soccer.  They often run into each other, bouncing off the other ball.  Thus, “Bumper Ball!”  It’s hilarious! Check out this video for a brief look at BUMPER BALL!  https://goo.gl/V4CYQv  Play or watch; it is sure to be a great time!

Chowder & Fritters, hamburgers, hot dogs and fries, popcorn, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to step back in time with the Lisbon Historical Society at the John Bishop House, located next to the Community Center.  Enjoy a guided tour, participate in some of their planned events, and try samples of their wildly popular open hearth cooking.

The event this year has over 30 local vendors, crafters, and artists.  Meet the artists, crafters and vendors and do some early Christmas shopping.  The Lisbon Fall Festival Committee is still looking for local artists and musicians.  If you would like to participate, please contact Cyndy Goodwin Cockett at lisbonfallfestival@gmail.com.

The Lisbon Fall Festival Committee needs YOUR help!  They are a volunteer organization and are always looking for new volunteers on the committee, or for people who can spare just a small amount of time to help them with major events.  They are asking for volunteers for set-up and tear down for the Fall Festival, as well as volunteers who can help cook or help with concessions.  Contact Cyndy Goodwin Cockett at 860-710-1640 or lastcarnival@comcast.net if you can assist with the Lisbon Fall Festival.

The Lisbon Fall Festival Committee is raising the funds required to install a heating system in the Lisbon Community Center with events like the Fall Festival and Bingo.  A heating system in the Community Center will make this spacious and affordable location available year-round for your events.  To learn more about using the Lisbon Community Center, visit www.lisbonfallfestival.org and click on “Community Center”.  You may also make reservations by contacting Lorraine Dawley at 860-866-7595.
