Bob’s Discount Furniture Donates Pillows and Mattresses to Channel 3 Kids Camp

Just in time for the start of the 2017 summer camp season, Bob’s Discount Furniture stepped up to donate 66 new mattresses and 200 pillows. The items will be used to furnish three newly constructed cabins that will house children who attend the Channel 3 Kids Camp this summer.

More than 2,500 children from across Connecticut are expected to attend the Camp’s summer overnight program. They will stay in cabins at the wooded 150-acre campgrounds on the shores of the scenic Skungamaug River. The camp runs both the overnight and the day camp for 10 week-long sessions.
 
Channel 3 Kids Camp is a completely inclusive camp, welcoming both typically developing children and those with physical and/or developmental special needs. In 2014 the camp constructed Ashley’s Place, a fully accessible, 64-bed dormitory-style cabin that is fully accessible and houses nurse facilities. The three new cabins are also fully accessible and hold 16 beds each.

Channel 3 Kids Camp believes that ALL children deserve a Kids Camp experience. Its mission is to provide fun year-round opportunities to children of all abilities, families, and communities through educational and recreational programs that promote diversity, acceptance, and environmental appreciation. The nonprofit organization provides opportunities through traditional overnight and day camp summer programs, a year round teen leadership program, weekend group rentals, respite weekends, and a year-round child care center.
