Chamber Foundation Accepting Grant Applications from Eastern CT Children's Charities

Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation announced that grant applications are available for eastern CT non-profits and charities that benefit local children and families. Applications are available online from www.ChamberECT.com/foundation or by calling the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut office at (860) 701-9113.
 
The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds for local children in need through yearly events. Its popular annual Holiday Gala was presented on December 8, 2017 at Mohegan Sun and raised over $122,000 from sponsorships, ticket sales, and the event’s live, silent, and ticket auctions. Funds raised from the Holiday Gala will be distributed in spring 2018.
 
Since 2002, the Chamber Foundation has donated over $1.4 million to numerous local organizations that serve the needs of children, specifically groups that address the Foundation’s goal of funding projects which enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities for children and families in the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT’s service area. 
 
Lou Ziegler, the Foundation’s Board Chair, acknowledged the community for their continued support of the Chamber Foundation and its annual gala.
 
Ziegler noted, “This event would not be possible without the tremendous support from our planning committee, dedication of our volunteers, generosity of our sponsors, and commitment from the Chamber staff. We are also grateful for the hospitality and support of our friends at the Mohegan Tribe and Mohegan Sun, who graciously donated their resources for the 34th Annual Holiday Gala. Our community is made better through their combined efforts.”
 
In the coming weeks, the Foundation Board will meet to review grant applications from eligible children-oriented non-profit groups in order to distribute funds raised from the Holiday Gala, annual Bowl-a-Thon, and other events held in the past year. 
 
Grant applications are available for download at www.ChamberECT.com/foundation. The deadline for submission is February 9, 2018.  The Foundation expects to make distributions to the awarded grantees in the spring with an announcement at the Chamber office in Waterford.
