Charter Oak Donates $15,000 to UCFS

Credit Union Commits Financial Support to Community Organization for Three Years

Waterford, CT – November 12, 2014 – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has awarded $15,000 to United Community & Family Services, Inc. of Norwich.

The $15,000 grant was awarded to United Community & Family Services in October, and will be paid over the duration of three years.
“We’re proud to support UCFS and look forward to seeing them flourish in their enhanced, and newly remodeled space,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s Chief Executive Officer. “It’s clear that they’re working hard to fulfill the unmet needs of those living in Norwich and surrounding communities, and their one-stop-shop approach makes it very convenient for people to have access to a variety of services.”

United Community & Family Services has been providing healthcare and community services to Norwich and surrounding areas for more than 137 years. UCFS provides primary medical care, women’s health, behavioral health services; and community based behavioral health services, dental services and eldercare services.

“Charter Oak’s generous donation to the expansion/renovation project at The Edward & Mary Lord Family Health Center at UCFS helps us achieve our mission of improving the health and well-being of the community. The completed expansion/renovation project increased our capacity by 48% allowing members of our community to access the services that we offer,” said Pamela Allen Kinder, Vice President of Marketing & Facilities.

This is the third multi-year donation awarded by Charter Oak since 2013.

Since the inception of Charter Oak’s Community Giving Program, over $1,000,000 has been disbursed to local organizations, college students, and members in need. Visit CharterOak.org/community for more information regarding Charter Oak’s Community Giving Program.
