Charter Oak Opens New Branch at Mohegan Sun

Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has opened its newest full-service branch at Mohegan Sun to serve its growing membership there and will also offer employees a new network of ATM machines at multiple Mohegan properties, including the Eagleview Employee Center and the Mohegan Tribe’s Community and Government Center.

The Mohegan Sun Branch, which opened on Monday, March 6th, is Charter Oak's 16th branch to serve its expanding membership across eastern Connecticut and is part of the credit union's continuing multi-year expansion of its branch network in New London and Windham counties.

"Our new branch at Mohegan Sun offers all of our banking services in a convenient location with easy access for the casino's employees, tribal members and tribal employees," said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak's President and Chief Executive Officer. The branch is located at the entrance to Mohegan Sun's multi-story Eagleview Employee Center and also features a state-of-the-art ATM that accepts cash deposits without an envelope, a popular feature for casino employees. In addition, Charter Oak will install ATMs at the casino's Traders' Trail employee break area and the Mohegan Tribe’s Community and Government Center.

"We've got a great team in place at our branch, along with some great offers, so I'm encouraging all Mohegan employees to come and join Charter Oak so they can see for themselves that members really do bank better with Charter Oak," said Orenstein.

The Mohegan Sun Branch will be led by Branch Officer Michael Ballirano, who will oversee a team of five branch employees. The branch will be the fourth specialized branch within Charter Oak's extensive network in eastern Connecticut, and it will exclusively serve Mohegan Sun employees, tribal members and tribal employees. Charter Oak's other specialty branches are located at the Electric Boat campus in New London, as well as its high school branches at Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton and Killingly High School in the Dayville section of Killingly.

Since 2013, Charter Oak has engaged in an aggressive expansion of its branch network, opening four new branches in New London and Windham counties as well as extensively remodeling its branch serving the city of Groton. Charter Oak offers one of the most convenient and largest branch systems of any financial institution serving eastern Connecticut.
