Charter Oak Supervisor Named Investigator of the Year

Waterford, CT – Cathie Forier, a Supervisor of Corporate Security for Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, has been named “Investigator of the Year” by the Connecticut chapter of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI).

“We’re proud to see Cathie’s investigatory skills recognized by such a respected global organization,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Cathie is widely respected in our industry for her expertise in credit card-related fraud, and she is a vigorous investigator when it comes to pursuing those who commit financial crimes and fraud,” he said.

Forier has worked in Charter Oak’s Fraud and Security Department for a decade and focuses on credit, debit and ATM card fraud. She will be honored on Friday, June 5, 2015, for her achievements during the IAFCI’s “Spotlight on Fraud III Conference” at the Mohegan Sun’s Convention Center in Uncasville, CT.

Forier is an active member of the Connecticut chapter of IAFCI, serving as both an Advisory Board member and Treasurer. In addition, she is a volunteer with the organization at training events, annual conferences and the IAFCI annual golf tournament.

Mark Solomon, President of the Connecticut IAFCI chapter, said that “Cathie is one of the hardest working financial crimes investigators in the state. Her dedication to combating financial crime is second to none. This honor is well deserved and everyone at the IAFCI is proud of Cathie’s accomplishments.”

Forier also holds the IAFCI’s Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI) certification, which is a global program that signifies the investigator’s advanced knowledge and skills in financial crimes and fraud investigations.

The IAFCI’s Investigator of the Year Award recognizes a non-law enforcement financial crimes investigator for his or her investigative excellence of financial crimes and for outstanding service and dedication toward meeting the IAFCI’s goals and objectives. The non-profit IAFCI, based in El Dorado Hills, CA, was founded in 1968 and focuses on training and communications to prevent and suppress financial transaction fraud on a global scale.
