Groton, CT – Ignite, a program of Thames River Innovation Place, and the Town of Groton’s Economic Development office will co-host Clicks & Bricks: Social Media for Small Businesses and Startups on Tuesday, June 19th. The special small business education seminar will feature Maria Miranda from Miranda Creative and John Michael Coronado from Incredible Weight Loss Center. The event will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at The Innovation Commons located at 93 Shennecossett Road in Groton, CT. For more information and to register, visit www.bit.ly/Clicks0619.

Speakers include Maria Miranda, Miranda Creative; and Jean Michael Coronado, Director and Wellness Coach, Incredible Weight Loss Center. This seminar will share up-to-date information on social media to the local small business and innovation community, including how to use social media effectively and efficiently; what social media platforms fit with your target market(s); and best practices on using social media to build your business. Specific strategies for retail, restaurant and personal services businesses will be discussed. This session is free and registration is strongly encouraged; refreshments will be provided.

The idea for the seminar came together when one local business person, John Michael Coronado of Ideal Weight Loss Center, was speaking with Sam Eisenbeiser, Economic Development Specialist for the Town of Groton. “What drove my interest to the creation of this seminar was helping my community and local business owners learn and establish an online presence that could bring their business to the next level, better our local economy, and ultimately make our area a more profitable and enjoyable place,” said Jean Michael. Sam Eisenbeiser then contacted Ignite Program Manager Emma Palzere-Rae and the idea moved forward.

“Groton Economic Development wants to help local retailers and small businesses discover how social media can help them find new customers and improve the health of their business. Our aim is to continue to work with Ignite to make available the technical assistance that our local small businesses need to be successful,” said Sam Eisenbeiser.
