Conn-OSHA Seminar to Address Safe Operations

February 25 CONN-OSHA Seminar Addresses
Safe Operation of Powered Fork Trucks

Wethersfield – Driving a powered industrial truck isn’t as simple as climbing in behind the wheel, turning the key and shifting the vehicle into gear.

Operators of these “fork trucks,” as they are commonly known, meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Powered Industrial Truck Standard. This includes formal instruction, practical training, and periodic grading by certified trainers who can evaluate performance.

Operators of powered industrial trucks can ensure they have addressed every detail of their training by attending a February 25 Powered Industrial Truck (Fork Truck) seminar sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor's Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA).  The session, which will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will be held at the agency's Central Office at 200 Folly Brook Boulevard in Wethersfield.

“There are always hazards associated with operating any type of equipment,” explains  CONN-OSHA Occupational Safety Training Specialist John Able, who is coordinating the program. “It’s best to be aware of all the latest training information and know all the requirements, including any updates or new information pertaining to your health and safety while you are operating this type of vehicle.”

Admission to the seminar is free, but pre-registration for the seminar is required. Please contact John Able at able.john@dol.gov or call him at 860-263-6902 to register for the session or for additional information.
