Connecticut Charter and Party Boat Association Hosts 2nd Annual Charity Deep Sea Fishing Event

Want a great day out on the water while helping kids at the same time? Anglers are invited to sign up for the Connecticut Charter Party Boat Association’s (CCBA) 2nd annual deep sea fishing tournament to benefit Channel 3 Kids Camp on July 27 in Waterford. Raymarine is Presenting Sponsor of the event for the second straight year.

CCPBA boats will gather at Mago Point Marina in Waterford on July 27 starting at noon. The shotgun start is at 1:00 PM and the boats will fish near one another.  The entry fee of $75 per angler includes the four hour fishing trip with bait and tackle. Weigh-in of fish such as scup, fluke and seabass will take place on the dock as boats return, followed by the awarding of trophies and prizes.

Each participant will receive a captain’s bag filled with an event t-shirt, program book and gifts provided by Presenting Sponsor Raymarine and Bronze sponsors ABC Supply Co. Action Air and Cabela’s.

Not only is the excursion a fundraiser that will help hundreds of Connecticut children go to camp, it’s an opportunity for youth in Channel 3 Kids Camp’s Teen Leadership program to join the event on one of the member’s large party-sized boat. Most of the teens who fished last year had never been deep sea fishing before and many had never been on a boat. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our teens,” according to Susan Baroni-Schaeffer, Channel 3 Kids Camp Corporate Relations Manager who helped chaperone last year. “New experiences like this are what our program is all about-not only do the kids have fun but learn leadership skills from the captains,” Baroni-Schaeffer continued.

“We want to have a sell-out again this year, so we urge people to register early,” said Marc Berger, President of the CCPBA. “Whether you’re a single person who wants to fish or a group we can accommodate you, which makes this event unique.” The tournament was a sellout last year, so those wanting to learn more and register should go to www.CTSportfishing.com. Proceeds will again benefit Channel 3 Kids Camp.

The CCPBA is composed of 40 charter boats fishing in the Western, Central, and Eastern Long Island Sound.  Their professional captains have verified credentials, are held to the highest ethical standards and are out on the water everyday often acting as the shepherds of their area.  Member captains not only donate their time, but their boats, mates and proven fishing techniques.
