CorePlus Sponsors Children's Concert in Norwichtown Sept 10

The tradition of a back-to-school band concert for children and families returns to the Norwich area for 2017.  The Silver Cornet Band, a popular professional concert band that has performed on the Norwich concert series for many years will be putting on a concert of music and activities designed for children and families, including a wide variety of toe tapping music sure to please people of all ages.

The concert on Sunday, September 10th, takes place at the Norwichtown Green, starting at 3:00pm. In past years several hundred people have attended the Children’s Concert in this perfect setting for a family picnic and outing.  With plenty of parking on the perimeter of the green and lots of space for children to move about, Norwichtown Green is a favorite location for concerts. Concert goers should bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.

Special highlights will be a demonstration of musical instruments, a TEDDY BEAR PARADE, with children invited to bring their favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal to show off to the crowd, and the always popular GRAND MARCH where children and concertgoers of all ages will be invited to follow the special guest Grand Marshal and Flag bearers around the grounds in a special parade.

The Children's Concert is made possible through the support and generosity of CorePlus Credit Union. It is another effort of CPCU to reach out to the communities in Eastern Connecticut served by the credit union and to support educational and community service projects for its members and the general public.  CPCU will have a tent to distribute credit union information for concert goers.

CorePlus Credit Union and The Silver Cornet Band are grateful for the assistance of the City of Norwich and the Public Works and Parks Departments for their support in making this wonderful concert venue available.
