Dermatology Physicians Offers Free Skin Care Screenings May 22

New London, CT – Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut will be offering complimentary skin cancer screenings for new patients at their New London office. This community event is timed to coincide with Skin Cancer Awareness Month and aims to find and treat skin cancers in patients who otherwise may not have had a skin exam, while educating the community overall about the very real risk of skin cancer.

The Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut New London office is led by Board Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Mohsin Malik.

Dr. Malik explains, “I am consistently finding skin cancers on patients of all ages and ethnicities. It’s important to have regular skin cancer screenings by a board certified dermatologist. Skin cancer screenings are especially important for patients who have ever used tanning beds. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, using indoor tanning beds before age 35 can increase the risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, by 59 percent. The risk of melanoma rises with each use of a tanning bed.”

“It has significantly less awareness than some other cancers, however the reality is more people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined,” adds Dr. Loyd Godwin, founder of Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut.

Early detection is critical for successful treatment of skin cancers, so we hope anyone who hasn’t had a recent exam joins Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut for a complimentary skin cancer screening:
