Dominion Energy Foundation Awards Channel 3 Kids Camp Grant to Send Children to Camp

The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has awarded Channel 3 Kids Camp a grant in the amount of $7,500. The funding will be used specifically to provide camp scholarships to children from New London County this summer.

Dominion Energy-Millstone’s Nancy Bulkeley, Senior Community Affairs Representative, presented the check to Channel 3 Kids Camp CEO Denise K. Hornbecker at the camp’s recent “Fun by the Fire” event, which welcomed more than 200 adults to Camp for an evening of fantastic food and drink provided by several Connecticut restaurants along with adult-style camp games.

The Camp’s mission is to provide fun, year-round opportunities for children of all abilities, families and communities through educational and recreational programs that promote diversity, acceptance and environmental appreciation. Channel 3 Kids Camp believes that all children deserve a camp opportunity regardless of their economic, physical or developmental ability.

“The support of Dominion Energy Foundation means so much to us,” said Denise K. Hornbecker, CEO of Channel 3 Kids Camp. “But it means more to the many children from New London County who are able to come to camp because of their generosity.”

Channel 3 Kids Camp, located on 150 acres in Andover and Coventry, CT, serves more than 3,000 children each year. Children come from throughout all of Connecticut and participate in activities that range from swimming, ropes courses, performing arts, archery and more. In addition to summer day and overnight camp, Channel 3 Kids Camp offers year-round programs including, vacation day camps, teen leadership programs and a year-round, on-site child care center.

Through its Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, as well as EnergyShare and other programs, Dominion Energy contributed nearly $35 million in 2018 to community causes throughout its footprint and beyond. Channel 3 Kids Camp, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, is extremely grateful for this opportunity to welcome new children to camp!
