Eastern CT Youth Symphony Announces Performances, Auditions

Winter Celebrations Concert: December 14, 2015
The Winter Concert will be held at 7pm on December 14, 2015 at Northeast Academy Elementary School in Groton. The concert will open with the String Ensemble, followed by the Youth Orchestra. Two of the Youth Orchestra musicians will be performing solos as well. Highlights will include music by Tchaikovsky, Handel, and Mozart. A suggested donation of $5.00 will be collected at the door. Shannon Stevenson, Music Director/Conductor for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Youth Strings Ensemble says, "The String Ensemble students will perform some very exciting and challenging pieces at this first concert of the year. I am so proud of how hard they have worked in preparation for this concert. They are a talented group of young musicians." Eastern Connecticut Youth Symphony Orchestra Music Director/Conductor Kate Anderson says, “I am very excited to have our newly formed ECSYO musicians perform at our 1st concert of the season. The students have been working diligently on our pieces that will showcase their many musical talents. We will be performing a range of pieces that feature classical favorites like Tchaikovsky to a modern day hit from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We are very eager to showcase solos as well as a string quartet selection from Corelli. With a brand new ensemble, these student musicians have been a great joy to work with and we are all thrilled to share our performances with the surrounding community.”

Windham Falls Estates Performance: December 21, 2015
On December 21, the ECSYO and Strings Ensemble will take the show on the road to the Windham Falls Estates, a senior living community in Groton. This is an opportunity for the String Ensemble & ECYSO musicians to share their musical talents with their local community. Eastern Connecticut Symphony Youth Orchestra board President Shelly K. Wilson comments, "This performance will allow our musicians to witness the joy music can bring. Often we perform for family and friends, so it will be a treat to share our concert with a broader audience." The concert is from 6:30-7:30pm.
