Frontier Announces New All-Local Sports Channel in CT

New Haven, CT – Frontier Communications today announced the launch of Vantage Sports Network (VSN-CT) from Frontier Communications, a new all-local channel dedicated to bringing viewers year-round coverage of Connecticut’s high school, collegiate and youth sports.

The channel will officially launch in early September and will be exclusive to Frontier’s Vantage TV™ customers. It will air 7 days a week on Channels 600 and 1600 HD. Content and programming will be developed by Noah Finz, former WTNH Sports Director and owner of Finz Creative Programming. In addition to providing statewide local sports coverage, Finz will be partnering with the established HAN Network to provide comprehensive high school sports coverage in Fairfield County.

“I am excited to work alongside Frontier for this exciting new venture into sports programming,” said Finz. “Local sports coverage is something that viewers want more of and Vantage Sports Network from Frontier Communications will meet that need in a relevant, fun and engaging way.”

VSN-CT will broadcast games at all levels and will include a nightly topical highlights show with 30 minutes or more of statewide coverage. With high school football season right around the corner, VSN-CT already has several local game coverage planned, including ones in Norwalk, Fairfield, West Haven, Bridgeport, Waterbury, Stamford, New Britain and Danbury.

Frontier and VSN-CT have partnered with Sacred Heart University, which will serve as the official home of the VSN-CT studio; this partnership will also provide college students opportunities to gain experience in the broadcast and sports industries allowing them to enter the job market with a solid, hands-on experience on their resume.
