Groton Rotary Club Donates Funds for Groton Little League Lights

Groton, CT – The Groton Rotary Club presented a check for $10,000 to the Groton Little League to help finance lights at Clinton Burrows Field at a recent weekly meeting.  Gary Weale, club president, presented the donation to Jonathan Grossman, Groton Little League president.

The lights at the field were installed recently at a cost of $80,000.  There are four 60-foot lighting poles with a cluster of 18 LED lights atop each pole.  There are poles behind the two dugouts and two in the outfield.  The electrical connections are expected to be completed soon.

The Groton Little League is growing and realized that they needed additional space for practices and games.  The installation of lights at Calvin Burrows Field will allow the league to schedule both practices and games at the field on any given day.

The addition of the lights will better position the Groton Little League to host District All-Star baseball tournaments.

The Groton Little League has an enrollment of 300 children ballplayers both boys and girls, ranging in age from 5-12 years old.  The league has served the youth sports community in Groton for more than 60 years.

The Groton Rotary Club raises funds annually to finance scholar awards and grants approved by its community foundation, which is formally known as the Groton Rotary Foundation Community Grant, Inc.
