Innovation Commons to Host BioCT's 3rd Annual Summer Kick-Off

BioCT will host its 3rd Annual Summer Kick-Off on Tuesday, June 12th at the Innovation Commons. The outdoor event is an opportunity for those in science and technology as well as local innovators and community members to network while enjoying food, drink and live music. The event will begin with the opening of the STE[A]M art exhibit indoors at The Innovation Commons from 4:00-5:00 pm, and then move outdoors from 5:00-7:00 pm. The Innovation Commons is located at 93 Shennecossett Road in Groton, CT. Tickets are $30. For more information and to register, visit www.bit.ly/SummerInno18.

The Summer Kick-Off, now in its third year, is a favorite event of the regional science and technology community. Live music will be provided by October Moon and food will feature catering by Ocean Blue Catering and fresh local Oysters. Ample parking is provided by Pfizer, with shuttle service donated by Premier Limousine. Other sponsors at press time include: Aerotek, ALT, Aon, BI-USA, Cantor Colburn, CohnReznick, Comcast Business, Community Concierge, Crossroads Ventue Group, Connecticut Innovations, FML, Ignite, SeCTerTown of Groton, UPS, VWR, Wiggin and Dana, and WSGR.

The STE[A]M Art Exhibit is a first-time venture for the Innovations Commons. In April a call was put out requesting submissions of two-dimensional works by scientists who are artists and artists who love science. “We were both impressed and overwhelmed by the amount of submissions we received,” said Kim Kelly, Operating Director of The Innovation Commons who is overseeing the project. The exhibit will open at the Annual Summer Kick-Off event on June 12th and will continue to be on view for 6 months, through January 12, 2019.  This is The Innovation Commons first art exhibition.
