MAC Seeks Millennial Artists for Upcoming Exhibition NEXTGEN

MYSTIC, CT – December 29, 2014 – Mystic Arts Center (MAC) seeks to broaden our young artist community and better represent the scope of the art world today by introducing our newest exhibition, NextGen. NextGen is a juried, all media show featuring Millennial artists, ages 16 to 35, the next generation to sustain the art community. The show will be juried by UConn Lecturer in Illustration and Animation, Alison Paul and UConn Professor of Communication Design, Mary Banas.

We seek artists who have a unique style, process, and vision. We encourage high school upperclassmen, college students, and working artists to enter. The show will run for three weeks in February 2015 with an opening reception occurring in conjunction with MIX Masquerade, our winter masquerade party on February 6th.

Receiving: Sunday, February 1, 11am –5pm in the MAC Studios. Artwork must be suitably framed with wires ready for hanging. Artwork must not exceed 48” in either direction. Opening Reception: Friday, February 6, 8pm – 11pm at MIX Masquerade in the MAC Galleries. *$10 off an Individual Membership for Millennials ages 35 and under at receiving and at MIX Masquerade (Regular Annual Individual Membership is $40)*. Member Entry Fee: First entry $10, second entry $5. Non-Member Entry Fee: First entry $20, second entry $15.

Awards: 1st Prize: $200 and a cover feature on our Summer Newsletter, 2nd Prize: $100 and a feature in our Fall Newsletter, 3rd Prize: 2 tickets to our Annual Summer Fundraiser and a feature in our Winter Newsletter, 4th Prize: A feature in our Winter Newsletter.
