Old Saybrook, CT – Margo Weitekamp, Chair of Southeastern CT SCORE, was presented the 2017 Connecticut Leadership Award at this year’s annual SBA Small Business Week ceremony held in New Haven, CT. The SCORE Leadership Award is presented each year to an outstanding individual whose team building and leadership skills develop exceptional performance as evaluated by SCORE’s volunteers and their clients. Brian Baxendale, Assistant Regional Director for SCORE in Connecticut handled the presentation on behalf of SCORE and the SBA.Margo Weitekamp Presented With Connecticut’s Leadership Award By SCORE
Mark Cutler, Regional Director and Vice President for SCORE New England and New York, noted: “Under Margo’s leadership as chair, the Southeastern CT chapter of SCORE has been ranked in the top 20 of more than 300 SCORE chapters in the country as determined by both the SCORE volunteer and client engagement survey results. In addition to free mentoring, SCORE also provides year-round small business workshops, many sponsored by regional banks. Subjects include how to write a business plan, managing small business finances, using QuickBooks, social media marketing, how to get a small business bank loan, starting up a non-profit, and more.
