Mitchell College Presents The Wizard of Oz May 1-3

New London, CT – The Mitchell College Drama Society is pleased to present the family musical favorite The Wizard of Oz. Come along for the adventure as Dorothy and her little dog Toto are transported over the rainbow into the magical land of Oz. The musical will take place at Mitchell College’s Clarke Center on Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m.

The cast features students from Mitchell College along with faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community. The lead roles will be played by students Katrina Link as Dorothy, Chris Wagner as the witty and funny Scarecrow, Orson Sinclair as the Tin Man, Thomas Fisher as the ever so lovable Cowardly Lion, and Rachel Kravitz as the Wicked Witch. Alumna Leahbeth (LB) Regan ’14 will play Auntie Em. In addition, children from New London’s Nathan Hale Magnet School will be playing Munchkins. Toto will be played by Honey Jewett.

The play is produced by Donna Ogle, instructor and faculty adviser, who is also co-director with Jessie Doro Mckay ’09. Choreography is by Heather-Renae Powers ’10, and the musical director is adjunct Lynne Floyd. The set is designed by adjunct professor George Dowker, and costumes are designed by Nightwing Whitehead. The music will be performed by a live pit band.
