This concert will be the inaugural event for the newly constructed Shaboo stage in Jillson Square   named after the famous Shaboo Inn nightclub, which was a premier music club in the northeast in the 1970s. The name Shaboo was chosen as the stage name due to the huge role that the former Shaboo Inn nightclub played in Willimantic’s history and the music world.  The Shaboo Inn nightclub hosted nearly 3,000 concerts during its 11 years, including:  AC/DC, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Journey, Bonnie Raitt, Miles Davis,Tom Petty (opening for NRBQ), Tom Waits, Freddie King, Buddy Rich, Dire Straits and countless others.

During the concert, food and beverages will be available for purchase from 10 food trucks and Willimantic Brewing Company, Sharpe Hill Vineyards, and Hosmer Mountain Soda.  In addition to general admission tickets, there will also be a VIP Tent offering prime viewing of the concert, a sit-down meal, and preferred parking.  There will also be a brief dedication ceremony for the Shaboo stage that will include many local dignitaries who were instrumental in the development of this new community venue.  This event was made possible through the many contributions by local business owners, the town and community partners who are donating goods, services and time.

The money raised through this concert will benefit the patients of Generations Family Health Center (Generations).  Generations is a private, not-for-profit, regional Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has been serving eastern Connecticut for 35 years.  Generations provides a full continuum of primary health care, oral health care, behavioral health care and health education for people of all ages through sites in Willimantic, Norwich, Putnam, Danielson, Putnam School Based Health Center and in the community through its mobile dental programs.  Generations is accredited by the Joint Commission and is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a Patient Centered Medical Home.  Generations’ mission is to provide quality, compassionate and professional health care that is affordable, easily accessible and without discrimination to all members of the communities served.  Last year, Generations provided over 22,000 visits to some 15,500 patients.
