Mystic Museum of Art Announces Call to Artists: 60th Regional Show

Mystic Museum of Art (MMoA) seeks submissions from artists for The 60th Regional Show. The all media juried show is open to all artists and is sponsored by Chelsea Groton Bank.  The Museum is pleased to announce that Margot McIlwain Nishimura, the Deputy Director of Collections, Programming & Public Engagement at the Newport Restoration Foundation will act as juror for this exhibition.  The 60th Regional Show will be on view in the MMoA galleries from August 5th through September 17th, alongside an exhibition of works by last year’s Regional Show winner, Sarah Stifler Lucas.
 
Two works may be submitted. Work must be framed, wired, and ready to hang. Works, including framing, cannot exceed 72” in either direction. Entrants are required to make their own arrangements for delivery and retrieval of work. No work may have hung in any previous show at MMoA. Artists must be 16 years or older. No work may be removed for the duration of the show.  A penalty of $5 a day will be charged for each work picked up after the specified dates. Receiving: Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1 from 11am – 5pm.
Entry fees for members are $15 for first entry, $10 for second.
Non-member fees are $20 for first entry, $15 for second.
Pick up unaccepted work: Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6, from 11am-5pm
Opening reception: Thursday, August 11, 5:30pm to 7pm.
 
Awards: 1st Prize: $500 plus solo show for 2017, The 61st Regional Show in the Schuster Gallery
2nd Prize:  $350     
3rd Prize:  $250    
4 Honorable Mentions:  $100 each  
Pamela J. Nelson Watercolor Award:  $250
Otto E. Liebig Photography Award:   $200    
Mary Barthelson Pastel Award:   $150
Robert Hauschild Watercolor Award: $100
The Katherine Forest Crafts Foundation Awards:
