New England Science & Sailing Foundation Named a BlueFuture Hero by West Marine Inc.

Stonington, CT – West Marine Inc. named New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) as one of its BlueFuture Heroes in October 2016. This recognition came after West Marine's BlueFuture Fund awarded NESS a $1,500 grant in the spring of 2016. West Marine's BlueFuture fund provides "ongoing grant support to nonprofit, community-based organizations that share our passion to promote water life adventure, education and recreation among young people."

This is the second consecutive year that the BlueFuture Fund has awarded a grant to NESS to support their ocean adventure STEM education programs for students across the region. NESS President Spike Lobdell stated, "We are proud to be named a BlueFuture Hero. At NESS we are all focused on the students. In reality our students are the real heroes as they learn and acquire new life skills that are transformational."
