South Pier Alternatives Considered

The Town of Stonington will be conducting a Community Conversation 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the La Grua Center (32 Water Street, Stonington; lagruacenter.org), about various design solutions to address needs for the South Pier at the Town Dock in Stonington Borough. Community leaders initiated a project to evaluate the condition of the South Pier and develop plans to ensure that this asset is in good repair for the future. The South Pier currently is leased by the Southern New England Fisherman's & Lobstermen's Association (SNEFLA), whose members use the facility for berthing and commercial fishing operations.

Professionals from the engineering firm Stantec will be on hand to share data that they have collected during the initial phases of the project, and share various design approaches to protect this asset and ensure that it is resilient for the community and the commercial fishing fleet. Please join us to hear about these ideas, and share thoughts and concerns you might have about this project.
