Popular Summer Arts Camps Return to Mystic Museum of Art

Mystic Museum of Art (MMoA) presents its 2016 Summer Camp schedule, with new exciting activities for ages 3.5 – 15 running in weekly camp formats from June 20th through August 26th.  MMoA Art Camps encourage creativity and imagination in children as they explore different topics and media, all while having fun with new friends. Half- and full-day camps are available, often with lunch and after-care provided for the convenience of the adult in the family.

Junior Studio camps offer the broadest experiences in visual arts, where different media  and processes are explored daily. Specialty Camps immerse the student in a medium or themed set of projects.  This year’s season includes camps in science, fashion design, puppetry, comics and 3-D construction. Fine Art Fundamentals for ages 8 – 12 offers a fine arts approach to drawing and painting. No experience is required, yet children with a love of drawing and painting will find that this class challenges their abilities and helps them to utilize their strengths to their advantage.  Continuing in 2016 is the popular collaborative  Nature & Art Camp, a collaborative program with the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, where students explore natural habitats, meet live animals, and bring the wonders of the wild to life with mixed media.

Summer Art Camps happen in MMoA’s studios and galleries, along the scenic Mystic River. All classes are taught by the highly qualified MMoA faculty who have tens of years of teaching experience as well as degrees in art and education.  Visit mysticmuseumofart.org/learn for a full list of camp offerings or call 860.536.7601 x213.
