Registration Open for Horses Healing Humans HEALS Summer Camp

Horses Healing Humans Summer Camp Program “HEALS- Human and Equine Alternative Learning in Summer” is now accepting registrations for week-long Summer Day Camp programs in July and August for children of developmental ages of 6-12 .

This Equine and Arts -Themed summer camp is an inclusional program for typically developing children and those with special needs. The experiential learning program exposes children of all experience levels to equine skills, farm life, expressive art, nature immersion, and social interactions. Campers are grouped 1:1 with trained volunteers according to their age, level of experience, and special needs. Volunteers age 14 and up are invited to train to assist with camp. Camp staff are specially trained in equine assisted therapy and are led by PATH Int’l Certified Instructors - Red Cross Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Activities include grooming, tacking, riding, games, trail rides, farm chores, hikes, expressive arts, and a group project that culminates in a special Horse-Play Theater presentation, Art Show and Ice-Cream social for parents and family at the end of the week. All activities are adapted to suit the abilities of each participant.  Medical clearance from the child’s primary care physician is required prior the start of camp.  
 
The Camp day runs from 9AM -2PM Monday through Friday. 6 weeks are available.  There is a limit of 6 campers per week.  Early registration is recommended.
 
Camp program are held at Horses Healing Humans, Inc.  340 New London Tpke in Stonington.
