SCORE Looking For Madison Mentors

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity to share your business background and knowledge to help entrepreneurs and small business people in your community? Southeastern Connecticut SCORE, a resource partner of the SBA, is looking for people who can give a few hours a month as small business mentors in the Madison area.

"We're looking for men and women with a variety of business backgrounds and skills who would like to help people start up or improve their small businesses," stated John Ferrara, Recruitment Chair of the Southeastern CT chapter of SCORE. "Being a SCORE volunteer is a great way to give back to your community, passing on your business knowledge and expertise to help the next generation of entrepreneurs succeed. SCORE is in the business of helping make dreams come true."

"Last year," noted Ferrara, "we helped nearly 400 clients in southeastern Connecticut. SCORE also provides free year-round small business workshops, many sponsored by regional banks. Subjects include how to write a business plan, managing small business finances, using QuickBooksTM, online and social media marketing, how to get a small business bank loan, and more."

"For many of our SCORE volunteers, the attraction of mentoring is a way to stay active in the business world without having to worry about the 9-to-5 routine. For members who have recently retired and miss being in a business environment, SCORE provides them with a great way to share their business knowledge and experience with others. It's fun and very rewarding."
