Thames River Water Taxi Offering River Tours for Groups and Individuals

New London, CT – Jacalyn Dietrich, President of The Thames River Water Taxi has announced a limited schedule of tours of the Thames River as an “end of season” special. 

On August 27 and 28, and September 3, 4, 17 and 18, River Tours at 10:30am and Sunset Tours at 5:30pm will be run.  All tours will depart from Pier 7 at Ft. Trumbull.  Prices for the River Tours are $20 for adults, $15 for children 3-12 and Active Duty Military, and $16 for Seniors (65+). Sunset Tours are $23 for adults, $17 for Children and Military and $18 for Seniors.  Per person groups rates, for 10 or more people, are available at $15 for River Tours and $18 for Sunset Tours.

Mayor Marian Galbraith of Groton City declared that “Since the second boat of the Thames River Heritage Park, the New London, has now entered service, our boat operator, Thames River Water Taxi, is able to add a schedule of river trips to normally scheduled water taxi service on weekends.” Mayor Galbraith chairs the water taxi committee of the Thames River Heritage Park Foundation.  “This is a great opportunity to relax and to take in the sites on the Thames River that make New London and Groton one of Americas greatest historical experiences,” she added. Cruises will travel up River under the Gold Star Bridge and past the United States Coast Guard Academy, including water views of America's first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus and the Avery Copp House, the Groton Monument, General Dynamics, Fort Trumbull, New London's City Pier and Historic Railroad Station, Ledge Lighthouse and more.  Evening cruisers will enjoy the glorious colors of late summer sunsets over the River and Long Island Sound.  Riders may bring appetizers/snacks, as well as favorite beverages (no glass please) aboard. There is no bathroom onboard, however, a toilet is located in the building near the landing at Ft. Trumbull. A minimum number of 10 people is required for sailing and prices are subject to change without notice.
