The Arc New London County Employment Transition Center Receives Customer Service Training

Members of The Arc New London County’s Employment Transition Center continue to expand their job skills—this week receiving customer service training while taking on The Resident’s downtown New London delivery route. Publisher Alexis Ann reached out to The Arc NLC last month to support vocational training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in the region.

The Resident team, including Publisher Ann, provided a warm welcome and brief training at the Resident’s offices in Pawcatuck. Starting August 20, a crew of three rotating participant employees will deliver stacks of The Resident to 35 businesses and restaurants twice per month. “It’s a great way for area businesses to get to know us and see what great employees these guys are,” said Bonnie Jones, The Arc’s Director of Employment Services. “It also provides some wonderful training opportunities in good customer relations, record keeping, and understanding all the work involved in putting out a newspaper.”
