UCFS Congratulates Pamela Manke on Receiving Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

UCFS is pleased to announce that Pam Manke has become certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).  The BCBA is a post-graduate degree. In order to become certified as a BCBA Pam had to obtain her Master’s degree and pass a national exam.

BCBAs are trained clinicians in the field of behavioral science that aid individuals by developing behavior plans, setting functional living goals, and assisting in the improvement of transition skills essential in day-to-day life. They utilize treatment techniques supported by an evidence-based approach known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) that focuses on observation, assessments, data collection, and analysis to promote positive behavior change.  ABA is one of the most widely used evidence-based interventions for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

The Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorder at UCFS continues to be a growing program whose mission is to provide evidence-based services that improve the quality of life for those with ASD in an area where there is a high level of need for services. Pam Manke stated, “I am excited to see what I can bring as a BCBA to the community. There is such a high level of need.”

Due to her diverse and comprehensive knowledge of ABA and Autism Spectrum Disorders Pam was one of five clinicians selected by the Global Autism Project to travel to Chandigarh, India in February 2018.   While there Skillcorps members will be training teachers, paraprofessionals and reaching out to parents to disseminate knowledge of ABA and acceptance of ASD.
