Veteran Municipal, Environmental and Land Use Lawyer, Richard S. Cody, Joins Suisman Shapiro Attorneys-at-Law

Richard S. Cody, an eastern Connecticut attorney with extensive experience handling matters in the municipal, land use & zoning, environmental and corporate arenas has joined Suisman Shapiro Attorneys-at-Law in the firm’s New London office. Attorney Cody originally worked at Suisman Shapiro from 1987-1992 and now returns as a very seasoned lawyer. He currently serves as the town attorney for Windham, Canterbury and Sprague, Connecticut.

Richard S. Cody is Connecticut native who graduated from Pomfret School.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut in 1980 and received his J.D. from the UConn School of Law in 1986.  Attorney Cody then attended the Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Oregon, where he received his L.L.M. (Master of Laws) in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. He is an Adjunct Professor of Environmental and Land Use Law at the University of Connecticut.  Attorney Cody was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1986, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 1994, and the United States Supreme Court in 2005. He also currently serves as Chairman of the Stonington Water Pollution Control Authority.
