Wally Lamb to Speak at Annual Women's Luncheon

Channel 3 Kids Camp is holding its 9th annual W.R.A.P. (Women Raising Awareness Philanthropically) Luncheon on May 21st at the Connecticut Convention Center in downtown Hartford. The event was created to help build positive networking opportunities while honoring the work of a woman for notable philanthropic contributions in her field and community.

Channel 3 Kids Camp is pleased to honor Chief of the Mohegan Tribal Nation, Lynn Malerba. Her name, Mutáwi Mutáhash translated means “Many Hearts.” This name reflects her life’s works and her belief is that it is a form of spirituality to work for the good of others.
Additionally, the camp is very excited and honored to welcome as this year’s keynote speaker, award-winning, New York Times best-selling author and Connecticut native, Wally Lamb. Mr. Lamb is the author of four New York Times best-selling novels: Wishin’ and Hopin’, We are Water, The Hour I First Believed, I Know This Much is True, and She’s Come Undone and was twice selected for Oprah’s Book Club.

Wally Lamb has said of his fiction, “Although my characters’ lives don’t much resemble my own, what we share is that we are imperfect people seeking to become better people. I write fiction so that I can move beyond the boundaries and limitations of my own experiences and better understand the lives of others. That’s also why I teach. As challenging as it sometimes is to balance the two vocations, writing and teaching are, for me, intertwined.”

Beginning at 11am, the luncheon will include a variety of area boutiques and artisans for shopping before the luncheon program begins at 12:15 featuring a delicious seasonal menu. Following the luncheon program, copies of Mr. Lamb’s books will be available for purchase and autographs.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person. Proceeds from the luncheon benefit Channel 3 Kids Camp.
