Wireless Zone to Present Grants Totalling $50,000 to Local Charities

Local Wireless Zone-Verizon Premium Wireless Retailers are back at it again in true holiday spirit! Family owned and operated, Wireless Zone nominated multiple non-profit organizations in the eastern Connecticut community to receive grants from the Wireless Zone Foundation in 2016. A grand total of $50,000 will be donated to these neighboring organizations this year.

Business partners and recipients of this year’s Citizen of the Year Award, Scott Gladstone and Neil Ryan, elect several charities in their community that display extraordinary dedication and a fervent commitment to serve their respective organizations and fulfill their unique mission statements. This year, thirteen of these grant requests were honored.

The following non-profit organizations that will be bestowed Wireless Zone Foundation grants: Center for Hospice Care, American Parkinson Disease Foundation, Connecticut Advocates for Parkinson’s, High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center, Jewish Federation of Eastern CT, Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, Sail Connecticut Access, The Friendship Service Center, Waterford Country School, American Friends of Kenya, Windham Hospital Foundation, United Way and Make A Wish Foundation of Connecticut.

The Wireless Zone Foundation for Giving® Inc., established in 2003, was created after discovering that the employees of Wireless Zone wanted to give back to the community of people they spent time with trying to assist at a store level. The Foundation, which supports both local and national nonprofit organizations, provides a basic structure for the collaborative giving program and enhances the individual stores’ ability to be able to commit to helping their communities. The grant funds will assist awarded organizations with initiatives to both expand upon current programs and implement new ones.

The Wireless Zone teams also completed a food drive this past fall for the Gemma Moran Food Bank in New London and the Willimantic Food Pantry. Several hundred pounds of food were donated to each, feeding homeless and less fortunate families in each territory. In addition, thru the month of December, not only are the stores are collecting unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, but each employee is donating a toy for the holiday season for a student at the Waterford Country School.

“We just want to help, however and whoever we can. I’m excited and thankful when people reach out to Wireless Zone for donations, because it means they know we care,” says Frank Lotti, an employee of the company for 8 years.
