Chamber Staff Goes Local

Staff from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT recently spent a day visiting eastern CT businesses as part of a “Buy Local”-themed staff retreat, exploring a few of the many sights and attractions that our region has to offer.

On August 23, 2018, Chamber staff began their day with a visit to Foxwoods Resort Casino, where they had breakfast in the resort casino’s Hospitality Suite. Following breakfast, staff members explored the G Spa in the Fox Tower and learned about the spa’s massage and relaxation services.

Staff then explored the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, which tells the story of the indigenous Mashantucket Pequot tribe, native to eastern CT. Staff were moved by the story of the tribe from pre-history to the current day.

Chamber staff stopped for lunch at Buon Appetito Ristorante & Pizzeria of North Stonington where they enjoyed fresh, expertly-prepared Italian cuisine.

Following lunch, Chamber staff went to Stonington Vineyards, where they sampled a selection of locally-grown wines amid a beautiful, tranquil setting.

The day concluded with a visit to Mystic Seaport Museum and a scenic 1.5 hour cruise down the Mystic River aboard the restored 1908-built steamboat Sabino.

Joshua’s Limousine Service of Gales Ferry served as transportation throughout the day. The Chamber expresses its sincere thanks to these local businesses and encourages all of eastern CT to Buy Local and experience the best that our region’s business and tourism community has to offer.
