We are a uniquely curated shop that offers our clientele an opportunity to purchase from small batch talented artists from across the US. Many of our products are from right here in Connecticut!
What led you to start Small Potatoes Crafts and Gifts? Was it to address a gap in the local business scene?
I wanted to own a business and was looking for something that was missing here in the area. The only gift shops around were the ones that have all of the same products in each of them. After a while you want something unique! I also knew that there were a lot of crafty and talented people around here that would benefit from a place to showcase and sell their work. Match made in heaven!
What aspect(s) of operating Small Potatoes Crafts and Gifts are you passionate about?
I love the ability to help artists break into the seller's market. Many artists are shy and lack confidence. Many of them create their art as a hobby or outlet for stress but in many cases aren't aware of how good it is. I'm here to help them realize that!
What, in your opinion, is your most popular item? What have your clients responded the strongest to?
It varies. We carry such an assortment of categories in the shop. I would say that the locally made soap, candles and jewelry are in the top.
How would customers describe your business?
Friendly, fun, and unique.

What keeps people coming back?
Our customers can't get enough! We change products constantly and introduce customers to great new artists all the time. My staff and I also always go out of our way to be helpful and inviting.
Is there something unique or unusual about Small Potatoes that, when people first hear about it, they tend to say "Wow – I didn't know that!"
We have over 250 different artists' work on display!

What simple advice might you give to someone who is just starting to launch their business or idea?
Be thorough, do your homework but don't be afraid to JUMP!
