Empowering Entrepreneurs: Black History Month Workshop on Cash Flow Management

Wednesday, February 18, 2026 (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM) (EST)

Description

Co-hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT and HEDCO, Inc.

In honor of Black History Month, we’re celebrating the spirit of resilience, innovation and entrepreneurship that has shaped Black communities for generations. Economic empowerment has always been a cornerstone of progress — and understanding your cash flow is one of the most powerful ways to build a strong, sustainable business legacy.

Join financial expert Petra‑Ann Brown for a special hybrid seminar dedicated to helping small business owners strengthen their financial foundations through effective cash flow management and realistic budget forecasting.

Whether you’re launching or scaling, this workshop equips you with tools to make smarter decisions, plan confidently, and grow with intention.

In this seminar, you’ll learn how to:

  • Track and manage your cash flow with confidence
  • Create a practical and flexible budget that truly works for your business
  • Forecast income and expenses so you can plan ahead — not fall behind
  • Prepare your business for long-term growth, stability and opportunities

Why this matters during Black History Month

For decades, access to capital and financial resources has been a barrier for Black entrepreneurs. Organizations like HEDCO have worked to close that gap — providing the support needed to help businesses start, grow and thrive. This event continues that mission by offering education that empowers underserved entrepreneurs to build generational wealth.

Who we serve — and how

Since 1975, HEDCO has supported small businesses owned by Black entrepreneurs, women, immigrants and underserved community members across Connecticut.

We offer:

  • Low‑cost loan programs
  • No‑cost business assessments
  • Credit and financial counseling
  • Educational workshops and technical training (including OSHA)
  • Business Resource Center support
  • Affordable incubator space with essential equipment (fax machines, printers, reception services, desks, meeting rooms)

Our goal is simple: to promote economic development and strengthen small businesses throughout Connecticut.
