SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting for Always Home Essentials with Leadership ECT
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate a meaningful milestone for our community! The Chamber's Leadership Eastern Connecticut Program Class of 2027 proudly invites you to a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the newly created Always Home Essentials shop a space designed to support families with minor children across Eastern Connecticut as they transition into stable housing.Organized by the Class of '27 as a Community Service Project\, this initiative transforms donated space into a welcoming\, dignified "store" where people can shop at no cost for essential household items. Stocked with goods such as towels\, bedding\, cookware\, dishes\, and small appliances\, the shop provides the basics needed to turn a house into a home. For many\, securing a safe place to live is only the first step. After covering rent\, moving costs\, and bills\, the expense of everyday items can feel out of reach. This shop helps bridge that gap giving the tools to create stability and sense of comfort. By offering essential housewares in a choice-based environment\, the Essentials Room will empower families to take the next step forward.Through a collaborative effort across fundraising\, logistics\, procurement\, and marketing\, the Leadership Class worked alongside Always Home to bring this vision to life. This ribbon cutting represents more than the opening of a shop it reflects a shared commitment to helping neighbors rebuild\, regain stability\, and move forward with confidence\, while reducing financial barriers across our region.Join us to tour the space and celebrate this community achievement.Special thanks to Union Baptist Church\, The Edward & Mary Lord Foundation and Advanced Construction for their support of Always Home and the Always Home Essentials Room.\nAbout Always Home:Always Home is dedicated to preventing homelessness before it happens\, working exclusively with families with minor children throughout Eastern Connecticut. Through personalized case management\, financial assistance\, and wraparound support services\, Always Home helps families stabilize their housing\, avoid eviction\, and build long-term resilience.Over the past five years\, Always Home has served 1\,870 families\, including 3\,569 children\, providing critical support during times of housing crisis. Their mission is rooted in the belief that every child deserves a safe and stable place to call home and that shelter should never be a destination.About Leadership ECT:Since 1987\, the Chamber's Leadership Eastern CT Program has prepared emerging leaders for impactful roles in the community. Through hands-on experiences\, collaboration with regional leaders\, and a capstone service project like this one\, participants develop the skills\, relationships\, and insight needed to create lasting positive change across Eastern Connecticut.
