Sen. Dan Champagne, the Senate Republican Whip, was elected to the State Senate in 2018 and has served as Vernon?s Mayor since 2013.
He was born and raised in Vernon, and he served for 22 years as a Police Officer in Vernon.

Sen. Champagne is the Ranking Member of the Connecticut General Assembly?s Planning and Development Committee, which has cognizance of all matters relating to local governments, regional planning and development activities, the State Plan of Conservation and Development, and economic development programs impacting local governments. He also serves on the Public Safety and Security Committee and the Judiciary Committee.
