Charter Oak's 'Matching Gifts' Program Donates Over $500K to Charities

Thousands of area families helped by more than 300 charitable organizations will benefit this holiday season from $540,900 raised through Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s 2024 Matching Gifts Program.

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union and its members have raised over $3 million since 2016 through this annual initiative to give back to the community.

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union matched over 1,000 donations to organizations such as food pantries, regional food centers, housing programs, educational assistance and more. Organizations receiving the largest gifts this year include Friends of Chikumbuso, $15,450; Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation, $15,200; Recovery Twelve Solution, $12,500; and Wheeler Library, $11,575.

“Thanks to the generosity of our members and Charter Oak’s match, we were able to contribute over $500,000 to organizations that support vital causes.” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our matching gifts program is a testament to the collective power of community, and we are proud to be a part of making such a meaningful impact.”

Charter Oak’s Matching Gifts Program, which starts in August each year, matches all qualified donations made by its members to 501(c)(3) charities.
