Azalea Drive Kicks Off Groton Concerts in the Park 2018 Season

Groton, CT – Azalea Drive opens the Concerts in the Park 2018 season on Friday (June 15) at 6:30 p.m. in Washington Park in the City of Groton.  All concerts are free.

Azalea Drive will present a wonderful mix of music from Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Aerosmith and more.  The four-member band includes Kym, Apicelli, vocals; Ron Apicelli, guitar; Dan Solomons, bass; and Dough Church, drums.

The concert series is co-sponsored and co-produced by Groton Utilities and the City of Groton Parks and Recreation Department.

The remaining concerts are June 22, Rock and Soul Revue; June 29, Mass-Conn Fusion; July 6, F & Blues Band; July 13, The Cartells; July 20, Jay Dempsey Band; and July 27, 9Teen.

Joe Presti provides sound production for all concerts.

Food is available on site. Groton baseball leagues will operate the concession stand.

The concerts are designed to be especially appealing to families for a fun, inexpensive night out.

Spectators are encouraged to bring their families and perhaps a picnic supper.  The concert site also has sufficient room on the basketball court for dancing.
