Democracy requires that we all have a seat at the table – to have our voices heard and to listen in order to build a participatory process that is fair for everyone. We know that when we invest in advancing public policy and legislation, we contribute to bringing about systemic changes that will create greater equity for all. This is the road to seeking solutions that will have long-lasting impact. As your community foundation, we are deeply committed to bringing together voices to educate and lead us towards a better tomorrow.

About the Women & Girls Funds
In 2017, the Community Foundation's four Women & Girls Funds commissioned a Report on the Status of Women & Girls in Eastern Connecticut. It revealed some bright spots but shined a light on many barriers and inequities that persist for women and girls, especially for women and girls of color.

In addition to grantmaking and community leadership, we knew we had to focus on advocacy and awareness building to achieve real change. To that end, the Women & Girls Funds Task Force on Public Policy was established in 2018. The Community Foundation is committed to responding to the needs and opportunities presented in the report and to championing equity for all.
