Charter Oak Hosts Annual Free Shred Day April 30

Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will be offering free shredding services to the community on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at three branch locations: 589 Hartford Pike in Dayville; 1055 Hartford Turnpike in Waterford; and One Connecticut Avenue in Norwich from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

Charter Oak hosts an annual Shred Day event to educate and protect the public from the risks of identity theft. Shredding old bank statements, expired credit cards and credit card offers are among the many ways in which individuals can prevent identity theft. Furthermore, paper shredding is an ecofriendly way to destroy documents containing personal information.

In addition to offering free shredding services, Charter Oak will be collecting non-perishable food items for local food pantries, including the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center located in New London, and Friends of Assisi Food Pantry located in Danielson. To accommodate as many individuals as possible, a three-box limit will be enforced.
