Chelsea Groton Bank Employees Graduate from CT School of Finance and Management

Groton, CT – Elaine Brunelle of New London, Assistant Secretary, Branch Manager of Chelsea Groton’s Waterford branch; Kelly Meakem of Norwich, Cash Management Services Specialist; and Sonya Mis of Norwich, Assistant Secretary, Training Specialist, recently graduated from the Connecticut Bankers Association’s Connecticut School of Finance and Management (CSFM). Sonya was recognized with the Michael J. Piette Honors Award, an award presented to students in the top 10% of each graduating class.

“At Chelsea Groton, we strongly encourage our employees to continually learn since we’ve found that employees who are well-trained and knowledgeable are able to provide a better customer experience,” said Denise Stapienski, Assistant Vice President and Training Manager. “The CSFM program has proved to be a comprehensive and beneficial learning experience for all who have completed it. We are very proud of Elaine, Kelly and Sonya for their accomplishments.”

The primary purpose of CSFM is to provide an opportunity for key employees of Connecticut’s banking industry to obtain a more broad knowledge and awareness of banking theory, practices and procedures, capital markets and management functions which will be of substantial value in their preparation for new and greater responsibilities at or within the management level.

The two-year program is designed to increase the knowledge of students in their own specialties and at the same time introduce them to a wide range of banking topics. The program helps students develop a broader perspective of the industry, a more enlightened view of their own bank and most importantly, a better awareness of their individual capacities.
