Chelsea Groton Bank Supports Local Military Organization in Honor of Military Appreciation Month

 
Groton, CT – In honor of Military Appreciation Month this May, Chelsea Groton Bank made a donation to Devyn’s Charm, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization located in Groton. Devyn’s Charm provides military families who have children that need extended hospital stays with “Charm Chests.” The chests include goodies and gift cards for the non-medical costs that quickly add up, such as gas, food and parking. 
 
“Chelsea Groton Bank was introduced to Devyn’s Charm through one of our employees who volunteers with an organization that partnered with them in the past. We are happy to support a group who believes in helping families in the community in their time of greatest need,” said Pam Days-Luketich, Community Education Officer for Chelsea Groton Bank. “The Bank also wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all military service members and their families for the sacrifices they make every day.”
 
Devyn’s Charm was formed when a local Navy family learned that one of their twin daughters, Devyn, was born with a rare genetic disorder. Throughout Devyn’s first months and years of life, the family made countless trips to area hospitals. They received the support of family and friends to help with the costs associated with giving their daughter the best care possible, while still working hard to raise their other two girls. The community was inspired by the strength of the little girl, and Devyn’s family was inspired by the generosity of the community.
 
In keeping with the spirited support they received, Devyn’s family started an organization where they could pass that love and generosity on to others. Over the last two years, Devyn’s Charms has presented baskets to military families with loved ones at Yale-New Haven’s Children Hospital, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and they hope to continue to expand their reach.
