Abbott Named Roger O. Walther (Class of '58) Assistant Football Coach
Derik Abbott has been named the first Roger O. Walther (Class of '58) assistant football coach.

Abbott is a 2016 graduate of Robert Morris University with a BA in Communications and earned a Master's degree in Communications from Lindenwood University where was as the offensive quality control coach in 2018. He was the co-offensive coordinator at Olympia High School in Olrando for six months before arriving at the Academy.

Abbott was a member of the 2017 team at Lindenwood. Prior to Lindenwood he played at Robert Morris University from 2012-15. He threw multiple touchdown passes in each of his first three starts as a junior in 2014. Abbott compiled the second-highest completion percentage in a single-season in Robert Morris program history (57.1 percent).

Derik was the quarterbacks coach at Boone High School in Orlando in 2016.

Coast Guard opens the season on Sept. 7 at the University of New England at 1:00.
