CorePlus Credit Union Celebrates its Authentic Difference

Norwich, CT – During October 16-22, 2016, Connecticut’s Credit Unions will celebrate the first-ever Connecticut Credit Union Week in conjunction with International Credit Union Day® on Thursday, October 20. CorePlus Credit Union has a role in improving the community they serve by being an affordable alternative of financial services. In honor of this special week, CPCU invites its members and the entire community to learn more about the credit union advantage and our authentic difference.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that work in the interest of their member-owners. CorePlus Federal Credit Union, founded in 1936, currently has 8 full service branches locally in Norwich, Taftville, Groton, East Lyme, Waterford, Plainfield, and within the Putnam and Brooklyn Walmart Supercenters. CorePlus currently has more than 21,000 members and $190 million in assets.  Its services include a number of consumer loan and savings products, including checking, car loans, personal loans, credit card services, mortgages and home-equity loans.  CorePlus Federal Credit Union managed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors along with President and CEO, Nicholas K. Fortson. For more information call 860-886-0576 or visit our website at www.coreplus.org

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference. This year’s theme, “The Authentic Difference,” celebrates what makes credit unions truly unique.

Throughout the week, credit unions around Connecticut will celebrate membership, value, community, financial well-being, security, and accessibility. Credit unions will share their activities on social media using #CUcelebration and #ICUDay. For more information about CorePlus Credit Union, visit www.coreplus.org
