Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare to receive ‘Military Community Support’ Award

March 9, 2022
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waterford, CONN. – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is pleased to announce the recipients of the Annual Military Community Support Award as Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare.

On March 25, 2022, both Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare will be recognized at the 11th Annual Military Appreciation Breakfast at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa for their dedicated support of eastern Connecticut's men and women in uniform. This important breakfast gives the business community an opportunity to show their support and connect with service members. Participation also makes it possible for us to extend complimentary invitations to local service persons as a token of our appreciation.

In 2021, Dime Bank and UCFS lent their sponsorship and support to Operation Homefront’s ‘Holiday Meals for Military’ program that took place throughout New London County. Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military-family communities. The Holiday Meal for Military program, on a local level, provides enlisted military families with all the items necessary to prepare a traditional holiday meal, helping to ease their financial hardships and to make the holiday season brighter.

“The holidays are a special time to say thank you and this is our way of expressing our gratitude to many local military families for their service and sacrifices throughout the year,” said Nick Caplanson, Dime Bank President and CEO. “We are very grateful that UCFS agreed to partner with us, so we were able to benefit more people of this special segment of our community.”

Beyond financial support for the program, the organizations had a robust employee-volunteer base to check in on families, load groceries, and hand deliver the items to homes throughout the region. This year, volunteers from Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare were also joined by Santa Claus, who brought toys and other gifts to families with children.

“UCFS Healthcare was thrilled to partner with Dime Bank and Operation Homefront to provide holiday meals to members of our military community. Throughout the year our staff work with members of the military community to ensure that their healthcare needs are being met, this year we were pleased to be able to extend the services we offer and provide a holiday meal,” stated Jennifer Granger, President/CEO of UCFS Healthcare.

“We are proud to be honoring Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare for their constant and impactful engagement in the region,” said Tony Sheridan, President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT. “These organizations have gone above and beyond in demonstrating support for our military families.”

This event will take place in part to the generous support of the breakfast’s Presenting Sponsor General Dynamics Electric Boat and supporting sponsors: Cardinal Honda, Construction Solutions Group, LLC, E2 Engineers, Fairview, R&W Heating Energy Solutions, LLC, and Research and Development Solutions, LLC.
