Dime Bank’s Crystal Sides Named 2017 Women of FIRE Recipient

Norwich, CT – Crystal Sides of Dime Bank has been named a Woman of FIRE by The Commercial Record. Women of FIRE is an annual award recognizing key female players in the local FIRE (Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) sectors. The seventh annual Women of FIRE award celebrates the best and the brightest women in their industries.

“As the underrepresented gender in these industries, women work particularly hard to rise to the top and achieve excellence on a day-to-day basis. I am pleased to announce that the nomination process has brought us an exemplary class of winners for this year’s Women of FIRE. Whether executive, innovator, philanthropist, or all of the above, their powerful influence is being felt in some crucial sectors of our state’s economy,” said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group, publisher of The Commercial Record.

Sides joined Dime Bank in March of 2015. Under her direction as Senior Vice President and Director of Compliance & Internal Audit, the Bank has expanded its compliance and audit programs, drawing recognition from its Board of Directors and regulators. As a current member of the Bank’s senior management team, she is an important contributor to bank-wide initiatives and strategic planning, and her guidance is consistently sought by her peers.

Nick Caplanson, President and CEO, summed up Sides’ value to Dime Bank this way: “It’s a good thing to employ a highly-talented person on your team, but it’s a great thing to have someone not only talented, but capable of serving as a role model for others; having Crystal on our team is a great thing and she is well-deserving of this award.”

Sides was one of the 14 women who will be honored this year. For more information about the awards visit http://www.thewarrengroupevents.com/crwof.

The Commercial Record is shining a light on the female innovators who are making a significant impact on the finance, insurance and real estate (FIRE) industries. There is a growing number of women who are paving the way in what was once a male-dominated sector. As more and more women rise to the top of these industries, their achievements should be illuminated, acknowledging them and inspiring others.

Nominees must be women employed in Connecticut by any business or institution facilitating transactions for finance, insurance or real estate at any level.

The awards luncheon will be held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT, on August 23, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Colleen Sheridan of RM Bradley Office Leasing and Investment Properties Group will give the keynote speech.
