Free SCORE Workshop on “The ABCs of a Business Plan and Understanding a SWOT Analysis”

Old Saybrook, CT - The Southeastern Connecticut chapter of SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to the success of small businesses, will present a free Small Business Workshop on "The ABCs of a Business Plan and Understanding a SWOT Analysis.”
 
How important is it to have a business plan? Do you know what a SWOT analysis is? Can the two be connected? In this workshop, you will learn the importance of both, what they are used for, what information they should contain, and what they say about your business.

Workshop Presenter Lisa Powell has been with the U.S. Small Business Administration since 1998.  She came on board as the paralegal to the District Counsel.  Through the years, she started to get more involved with business development and government contracting.  As an Economic Development Specialist, she participates in educational forums such as how to start and finance your small business, working closely with all of SBA’s resource partners.  As a Business Opportunity Specialist, she is involved with the Government Contracting programs that the SBA provides.  She facilitates the procurement workshops held at local Community Colleges, Chambers of Commerce and libraries.  She is also very instrumental in the organizing of SBA Matchmakers, working very closely with the purchasing agents for the Federal and State Agencies as well as the larger prime contractors.  Lisa monitors both the HUBZone and 8(a) portfolios for the CT District Office.
