Go Behind the Scenes at the COMO’s 64th Annual Village Fair

Want to see the magic of the Fair happen behind the scenes? Volunteer with the Stonington Community Center (COMO)! We have a variety of engaging volunteer opportunities, from set up and break down to concessions or our used book sale. Volunteers can choose to lend a hand on Friday, August 5th, for set up hours, or Saturday, August 6th, for Fair events or breakdown. Visit www.thecomo.org to sign up today!

If you are looking for a different way to get involved, consider participating in our Pie Bake-Off, donating to our Silent Auction tent or Book Sale.

Our Pie Bake-Off was a hit last year! We loved seeing (and tasting) the unique culinary creations that were submitted. This year, we are once again calling all amateur bakers for a Pie Bake-Off. Adults, watch out, because we have opened up the contest to our youth bakers! Use your secret family recipe, or enter a new favorite. Each contestant must provide two pies, one for judging and one for the pie auction. No pies that require refrigeration can be submitted (dairy, meat or cream pies). Each contestant’s entry fee is $10. Pies can be dropped off at 11am on Fair day, Saturday August 6th, at Wadawanuck Square. If you can’t make it the day of the Fair, you can drop off your pies on Friday, August 5th, at the Stonington COMO, 9am – 5pm. Find registration forms at www.thecomo.org.

Our Silent Auction tent is another popular destination for many of our attendees. And we need you to help us fill the 64th Annual Village Fair with fantastic finds! Your tax-deductible donation of items or services would be greatly appreciated. Recognition of your generous donation will be displayed at the Silent Auction. This portion of our Village Fair is a great opportunity to display the value of your goods and services, and is seen by all who attend.

Another fan favorite of the day is the Book Sale. The sale boasts gently used books donated by the community, including rarities for great prices. If you’re interested in donating, please drop off at the COMO, 28 Cutler Street, Stonington between 9am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.

The Annual Village Fair is a cherished tradition, attended by residents of Stonington and beyond. Each year, the COMO relies on the generous assistance of volunteers and donors to help make our event a fun time for all. Since 1945, the COMO has worked to strengthen families and the community. Located in the Stonington Borough, the Stonington Community Center has become an irreplaceable part of the Stonington community, serving countless children and families of the surrounding areas, regardless of financial need.
